First observed in 1970, Earth Day is now recognized globally in more than 193 countries. Earth Day plays a crucial role in reminding us of our responsibility to preserve and protect the environment for future generations. To do that, our grassroots network is working hard to reduce plastic pollution through advocacy for policy solutions like single-use bans, accessories upon request and packaging reduction laws. We welcome new additions to our Local Groups & Affiliates program. Please join our grassroots training in May to learn more.

  • Missouri River Bird Observatory: Plastic Brand Audit
    MRBO is joining forces with Missouri River Relief for two brand audits. Every morning, they’ll analyze plastic waste pulled from the river to identify the top corporate polluters behind the plastic crisis. By following Break Free From Plastic’s audit methodology, they’ll submit our findings to their global report—because companies need to take responsibility for their waste!

    Come join like-minded neighbors from across the Valley at the May Day Festival, a fun free celebration of labor, climate justice, human rights, social justice, and the honoring of Beltane. We’ll have music, maypole dancing, arts and crafts for young and old, workshops, demonstrations, speakers, and other merriments.
