We can achieve a world without plastic pollution but we need to build a bigger, more powerful grassroots movement to do it.

How can you help? Just register for the upcoming Beyond Plastics Grassroots Advocacy Training for Local Groups and Affiliates to learn practical and powerful ways to end plastic pollution and engage your larger community.

Join us for a free, two-hour online training designed to give you the knowledge and tools needed to take meaningful local action on plastic pollution. Whether you're just getting started or looking to deepen your advocacy, this session will provide both context and practical steps for making lasting change — beginning right in your own community.

We will cover the following:

  • What’s new in Beyond Plastics’ fight against plastic pollution? Get up to speed on the latest scientific studies and learn about our state-level campaigns to reduce plastic pollution at the source.

  • Explore real-life advocacy campaigns: Get inspired by innovative local campaigns and apply their strategies to lead effective advocacy efforts in your own community.

  • From local action to lasting change: Learn how to create legislative change from the ground up with the people in your community. Identify your elected officials, understand their roles, and work together to meet with them and advocate for meaningful change.

  • Grassroots organizing skills: Build practical organizing skills, including how to schedule and run effective meetings with elected officials, plan events, recruit volunteers, and engage the media.

  • Community education: Learning is power! Explore how to plan and host impactful community events — both in-person and online — that inform, engage, and inspire action.

We’ll wrap up with a focused Q&A and summary to turn what we’ve learned into clear, actionable next steps.

Please note: These trainings are geared toward people in the United States, where Beyond Plastics has deep experience with policy change. People from other countries are welcome to take part, but we most likely will not be able to support you in seeking regulatory change in your own country. We also regret that we cannot offer translation in languages other than Spanish at this time.

Join Our Local Groups & Affiliates Network

After the training, we hope you will join the growing grassroots movement to end plastic pollution by starting your own Beyond Plastics Local Group, or, if you are already part of a like-minded organization that would like to organize around plastic pollution, by adding your existing organization as an Affiliate. We’ll support you in running local campaigns to reduce wasteful and polluting plastics in your own community as well as in coordination with Beyond Plastics activists all across the country.

If you’re curious about what the difference is between a group and an affiliate, how they’re structured, how to either start or join one, or anything else, please click here to read our frequently asked questions or email Suzette Munley, national community engagement director at suzettemunley@bennington.edu.
