The State of California banned polystyrene foam food service products starting on January 1, 2025 yet plastic foam products are still being sold and served up freely throughout the state. Beyond Plastics’ Susan Keefe is working to hold the state accountable.

🧋Rallying to Reduce Single-Use Packaging in NY!🗽
On January 28, 2025 roughly 200 diverse advocates met in Albany to encourage legislators to support packaging reduction in NY.

⏸️Pressing Pause on a Polluting Proposed Pyrolysis Plant in Youngstown, Ohio☠️
After years of advocating in opposition to the proposed SOBE Energy Solutions plant, the community of Youngstown, Ohio recently succeeded in convincing the City Council to pass a 12-month moratorium on pyrolysis of tires, tire derived chips, plastic, and electronic waste.

The Mesh Bag Mamas are giving shoppers in New Hampshire a choice between single-use plastic produce bags and reusable handmade organic cotton mesh bags.

A group of dedicated Green Newton volunteers helped pass a comprehensive single-use plastic reduction ordinance in Newton, MA this fall!

Beyond Plastics volunteer, Suzette Munley helped her town, Upper Moreland, PA pass a single-use plastic and polystyrene ban that makes plastic straws available upon request only, and adds a 10-cent mandatory fee for paper bags!

✊Fighting to Stop Toxic, Polluting Artificial Turf in Ithaca, NY☠️
Zero Waste Ithaca is working hard to prevent Ithaca College from installing dangerous, polluting artificial turf including circulating a student-led petition, holding a rapid response rally, and hosting a call relay.
✌️Peace, Love & Less Single-Use Plastic🚰
✌️Beyond Plastics New Paltz scored a major victory for the environment and music-lovers by working hard to convince Bethel Woods to change its policy to allow patrons to bring and use refillable water bottles.
